Make Guest Houses An Option

vacationing in your own country is always a smart choice. Not only does it support your country's economy, but it also helps boost the tourism sector. However, let’s be honest—no one vacations solely to contribute to their nation's economy. People vacation for leisure, to take a break from their busy lives, relax, and have fun. It’s also a more cost-effective way to enjoy a getaway without travelling far from home.

Often, when people ask us to create vacation packages for them, we include everything from car rentals and hotels to beaches and restaurants—you name it. One of the first things we do is assess your budget, and for most travellers, we recommend staying at a guest house.

Why you ask?

Hotels are typically ranked by stars, ranging from 0 to 5 or sometimes 1 to 5. A 0 or 1-star rating represents the least comfortable options, while a 5-star rating signifies the most luxurious and comfortable stays. While these hotels are undoubtedly comfortable, it’s safe to say that many may be overpriced.

I know, I am getting to the point.....

Not all hotels are all-inclusive. This means you’ll pay for your stay but be billed separately for almost everything else. Even some all-inclusive hotels charge extra for special requests or premium services.

I’ve personally heard people say that while hotels are luxurious, they often fail to deliver the experience travellers initially envisioned for their trip. As a result, guests end up spending additional money to make up for the lacklustre experience. Ultimately, the cost of everything adds up, and that’s what we’re most concerned about.

This can quickly strain your budget. That’s why we always suggest adding a luxurious guest house as an option, before soling opting for a hotel. Don’t get me wrong—guest houses are quite similar to hotels in that they both provide lodging. However, choosing a more affordable option allows you to save money, which you can then spend on experiences rather than just accommodation.

In this post and others to come, I’ll highlight some affordable guest houses in Jamaica. Additionally, I’ll list all-inclusive and budget-friendly packages that include guest house stays. Then later on we will look at Luxury hotels and everything nice.
